Saint Ignatius Tops DePaul College Prep Again, 24-14

by: Michael Sanders

History repeated itself Friday night as DePaul College Prep fell 24-14 to Saint Ignatius, nearly two years after their last meeting ended with the same result.

The Wolfpack came in as the clear favorite — ranked 28th in Illinois compared to DePaul’s 98th — but the Rams still showed fight, led by quarterback Jackson Grabinski’s big night. Grabinski threw for 311 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding 64 yards on the ground.

His top target was Tyson Hooks, who hauled in 97 yards and a touchdown, keeping DePaul’s offense moving in key moments.

But in the end, Ignatius’ balance and consistency wore the Rams down, stretching their home winning streak to four games.

For DePaul, it’s their second straight loss to start the season, dropping them to 0-2.

What’s next:

  • DePaul College Prep looks to bounce back at home against Marian Catholic, Friday at 7 p.m.

  • Saint Ignatius heads on the road to face IC Catholic Prep, Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Bottom line: Grabinski and Hooks gave the Rams life, but Ignatius once again proved too strong.
