Mount Carmel Asserts Its Legacy in Rivalry Showdown Against St. Rita
In one of Chicago’s most storied football rivalries, Mount Carmel didn’t just win… they imposed their will. The Caravan’s 2025 clash with St. Rita was a masterclass in dominance, with Mount Carmel firing on all cylinders and leaving no doubt about who owns this year’s bragging rights.
The defensive unit was relentless, spearheaded by the ferocity of #2 Tavares Harrington, #99 Braedon Jones, and #97 Joey Quinn, each making their presence felt in the trenches. #32 Roman Igwebuike and #1 Scholar Athlete Gavin Conjar closed every gap, swarming to the ball with discipline and grit that suffocated the Mustangs’ attack. Every St. Rita possession felt like a test against a brick wall and the Caravan’s defense never cracked.
On the other side of the ball, MVP #7 Emmett Dowling turned the rivalry into his personal stage. With poise in the pocket and vision downfield, he picked apart St. Rita’s secondary, finding his dynamic receivers #4 Quentin Burrell and #3 Marshaun Thornton for highlight after highlight. Each completion seemed to tilt momentum further in Carmel’s favor, electrifying the crowd with every connection.
The Caravan’s offensive line deserves just as much credit. #79 Claude Mpouma and #76 Lamont Miller anchored the trenches, creating a fortress around Dowling and opening lanes that allowed Mount Carmel’s offense to dictate the tempo all night long. Their dominance up front set the stage for every big play, every touchdown, every dagger that silenced St. Rita’s hopes.
But this game was about more than just points and stops. It was about tradition. It was about two powerhouse programs colliding, and one rising above when it mattered most. From the first snap to the final whistle, Mount Carmel’s energy mirrored the roar of its fans; fierce, unrelenting, and proud.
As the scoreboard told the story and the crowd echoed with chants, one truth was undeniable: Mount Carmel reminded everyone why their name is synonymous with excellence, tradition, and championship football. In a rivalry built on history, the Caravan added another unforgettable chapter, leaving no doubt about their supremacy in 2025.
