Memphis Explodes Past FAU, Stays Perfect at 5-0
by: Michael Sanders
It wasn’t flawless, but Memphis proved once again that firepower wins games. The Tigers pulled away late for a 55-26 victory over FAU in the American Conference opener, keeping their record spotless at 5-0.
Greg Desrosiers stole the show. The running back gashed FAU’s defense for 204 yards and three touchdowns, highlighted by a 90-yard house call that broke the game wide open in the second half.
Cortez Braham was the deep threat. The wideout caught two touchdowns, including a 73-yard dagger in the fourth quarter that iced it for Memphis.
Quarterback Brendon Lewis briefly left after a big hit in the first half, but returned to throw for 196 yards and two scores, keeping the Tigers’ offense rolling.
FAU found some rhythm and moved the ball at times, but the Owls couldn’t match Memphis’ ability to flip the field in one play.
Bottom line: The Tigers leaned on explosive strikes from Desrosiers and Braham to bury FAU and prove they’re ready to run through the American.
